For us, Bluetech needs no introduction; they are one of our all-time favorite "bands." Personally, my two "traveling" staples have always been Magic Sound Fabric and Bluetech, and now it's become a personal endeavor for us as well: Evan is an incredibly unique individual who's thinking and vision we hold in high regard. His music is a perfect reflection of that unique perspective his has for the world around him, and the organic, soothing nature of his music is a perfect reflection.
As Somnia says: "Bluetech returns with his first new material since 2005. After splitting his musical expression into multiple aliases, phoenix rising marks his return to eclectic, ecstatic, and emotional electronic music, and exists as a precursor to an expansive album entitled the divine invasion coming early 2009 on aleph zero records. It's music incubated in dreams, flows of energy from ancestral sources, the shape of the wind."

We are extremely proud to offer more music from Bluetech's Evan Bartholomew. "Secret Entries Into Darkness" brings another example of sonic storytelling to Somnia, moving from atmospheric float into pulsing minimal electroid rhythms. Evan's got a unique perspective on downtempo music, masterfully blending organic rhythms that only deepen the more times we listen to it here at the shop. Outside of the shop, it's a staple for helping to guide us on our meditative and shamanic journeys, often personally acting as the anchor to help bring me back to my body when traveling.
As Somnia describes this CD: "Fractaline analog grooves and micro beat construction establish a hypnotic base for a composed layer of ambient exploration to unfold. Presenting a balance of analog modular synth elements and complex dsp processing, 'secret entries into darkness' further's somnia's approach to cinematic modern music." We couldn't agree more.

As the artist says: With this album, I wanted to focus on the essence of melody and expose it in a raw form through the electronic medium. The source of the main melodies came from repetitive hooks I found myself sporadically singing or humming during day to day business. Think of the joyful tunes whistled during a walk. These melodic mantras seem to pop up out of nowhere and go on repeating forever.
When I'd notice this, I'd hang onto the melody until I could get to the studio and bang it out, no matter how obvious or straightforward it was. Once the main melodies and inflections were out, I could carefully construct an audio bedding for them and see where it led. from a larger perspective, I felt that the search for these melodies was similar to unearthing subconscious archetypes that drive reality. The process was like discovering an ever-flowing undercurrent of reality that can be translated directly into melody.
in this case, it felt that the source of them all must absolutely be love.” - kilowatts
